An elderly woman riding a scooty was stabbed to death with a needle more than 12 times in broad daylight in East Delhi’s Mandawali area on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Sudha Gupta (72). After the incident, the attackers fled from the spot. After the attack, the woman was taken to Metro Hospital in Preet Vihar, from where she was referred to Max Hospital. Where the doctors declared Sudha dead. During the investigation, the police came to know that at the time of the incident, Sudha was returning home from Mandawali to Laxmi Nagar after collecting the rent of her house. The relatives have accused a woman who was a street vendor outside the shop in Mandawali, of getting the old man murdered.
Mandawali police station has registered a case of murder and started investigation. Police is trying to identify the attackers with the help of CCTV cameras installed nearby. The police is also probing the allegations of the family members. According to the police, Sudha lived with her family at Guru Nanakpura, Laxmi Nagar. There are three sons and two daughters in his family. Daughters are married. The elderly woman’s husband Vijaypal has died. Two of his three sons are doctors. A relative told that Sudha Gupta has a property in Mandawali.
Woman hawker in front of property accused of getting murdered
As soon as the news was received, the relatives of the woman reached there crying. The woman’s son alleged that a woman used to set up a hawker outside her shop in Mandawali for a long time. His mother had forbidden the woman to set up a hawker. He had a tu-tu-me-me fight on this matter. The woman had threatened to kill his mother.
The family has accused him of getting the murder done. The police is probing the family’s allegations. The matter of robbery from the rest of the women is being ruled out. After the murder in broad daylight, people were seen discussing the incident in the entire area. The police is also trying to trace the people present nearby.
Initially, the police kept telling that it was a road accident.
The family immediately reached the hospital after the accident. The people who took the woman to the hospital told that she was attacked with some sharp weapon. But the police denied the point of attack with sharp weapons. The police kept calling it a simple road accident. Elderly Sudha Gupta had wounds on the left side of the face, chest, chest, face and hip. The police team reached Max Hospital while investigating. On reaching there, the doctors told that the woman was attacked with some sharp object. Because of which he died. None of the injured women is of road accident. After talking to the doctors, the police later registered a case of murder and started investigation.
