In view of the increasing number of critical patients and the increasing demand for surgeries at AIIMS Trauma Centre, the hospital has decided to double the number of its operation theatres. Currently, the trauma centre has 5 general operation theatres and 1 additional theatre available. Which was installed during the construction of the trauma centre. An average of 600 surgeries are performed in these theatres every month but due to the increasing number of patients, this number will now be increased.
In view of the continuous increase in the number of patients in the Trauma Center, five new modular operation theaters are being built. These additional theaters can be operational from October. After the commissioning of new theaters, the total number of operation theaters in the Trauma Center will increase to 10 normal + 1 additional. This expansion will enable about 1200 surgeries to be performed every month, which will provide quick and better medical care to the patients.
The inauguration of the new operation theatre will provide relief to patients who are unable to get their surgery done at AIIMS Trauma Centre due to long waiting times and turn to other hospitals. Currently, some patients are referred to other hospitals every day due to lack of beds. With this important expansion, the surgery capacity of AIIMS Trauma Centre will increase, which will provide timely and efficient treatment to critical patients.
