Delhi Chief Minister Atishi held a press conference on Monday. During this, he said that the Delhi government has done a lot of work for the safety of women. In 2015, bus marshals were appointed to ensure that women do not face indecent behavior in buses. CCTV and panic buttons were installed, but in 2023, BJP removed these bus marshals through its officials. AAP MLAs and workers fought on the streets for the bus marshals and in the end the BJP had to bow down to the struggle of the AAP and the bus marshals.

On the issue of appointment of marshals in buses, Delhi CM Atishi says, ‘We are writing a letter to the Lieutenant Governor to make a policy to permanently employ bus marshals for the safety of women. Until a policy is made, 10,000 bus marshals should be reinstated.’
Atishi said, ‘The issue of permanent appointment of bus marshals comes under the Central Government under Services and Public Order. In such a situation, until the Central Government makes a policy related to making bus marshals permanent, the Delhi Government has decided that all 10,000 marshals should be deployed in buses with immediate effect. So that youth from poor families get employment and women can feel safe again in buses. The Delhi government will bear the entire expense of appointing marshals and paying them salaries.
BJP stopped salaries of bus marshals: Atishi
Atishi said, in 2017-18, the government had deployed marshals to provide security to women in buses in Delhi. The people of Delhi saw many proofs of the security provided to women, elderly and children by the appointment of these marshals in buses. He claimed that the marshals have stopped misbehavior with women in the bus, stopped attempts to kidnap a child and helped the elderly. He alleged that BJP hatched a conspiracy and through its officer stopped the salaries of these bus marshals from April 2023.
10 thousand youth became unemployed: Atishi
He claimed that on one hand this made women unsafe in buses and on the other hand youth of more than 10 thousand families became unemployed. Kejriwal repeatedly said that these bus marshals should be kept back. He vowed that no matter how much struggle he has to do, he will get these bus marshals back employed. He said that ultimately the BJP had to bow down to this struggle and simply agree to reappointment of marshals.
