Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday visited the house of ASI Shambhu Dayal Meena living in Madhu Vihar and met his family. Along with this, a check of one crore rupees was also handed over to the family members on behalf of the Delhi government.
On January 4, Meena, posted at Mayapuri police station, had gone to nab the accused of snatching a mobile on the complaint of a woman. The accused attacked him with a knife and seriously injured him. He died in the hospital during treatment.
The Chief Minister said that Martyr Shambhu Dayal Meena served the people bravely. Entire Delhi and the country salutes his martyrdom and courage. Very proud of policemen like Meena. In today’s world, there are very few people who serve the society by risking their lives. During this, Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot and local MLA Bhavna Gaur were also present. Everyone met Meena’s father Matadin Meena, wife Sanjana and their three children and consoled them.
He was a native of Sikar, Rajasthan.
Shambhu Dayal Meena was originally from Sikar, Rajasthan. He was 57 years old. He had joined the police service in the year 1993 and is currently working as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Delhi Police and posted at Mayapuri police station. Meena had reached the spot alone with the complainant. He tried to overpower the accused, but the accused stabbed him several times with a knife. Despite being empty-handed, he showed courage and nabbed the criminal and did not allow the criminal to escape till the police force arrived from the police station.
