Delhi court has allowed BRS leader Kavita’s application. In this application, a demand was made to direct the central agencies to present K Kavita before Special CBI Judge Kaveri Baweja on May 7. Delhi court had issued notices to both ED and CBI. Recently, the court had directed Tihar officials to present Kavita before the court through virtual hearing.
Kavita was arrested first by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and later by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on April 11 while she was in Tihar jail. Rouse Avenue Court Special Judge Kaveri Baweja had then sent him to CBI custody and said detailed and sustained interrogation of the accused was necessary. On Thursday, the court had postponed till May 6 its decision on the bail plea of K Kavita in the money laundering case related to excise policy. He is in judicial custody till May 7.
Kavita has alleged in her petition that her arrest is politically motivated, aimed at denying her and her party a level playing field in the upcoming general elections. He has claimed that his arrest by the CBI, a few days before the start of the nomination process in Telangana, was done to hamper his election campaign on behalf of the ruling party at the Centre.
