A delivery boy was beaten to death in a road rage late Saturday night in Ranjit Nagar area. The deceased had an altercation with two people traveling in a cab to give way. The accused first pushed the scooty-riding delivery boy with the scooty and then fled after beating him with kicks and fists.
During the investigation of the case, the police identified the two accused involved in the attack by taking the cab numbers through CCTV cameras and then arrested them on Sunday afternoon. they are being interrogated. The deceased has been identified as Pankaj Thakur (39).
He lived in Faridpuri Patel Nagar with his wife, a son and daughter and used to deliver food items. Police officials said that at 11.30 pm on Saturday night, the police received information about a youth lying unconscious near Main Bazar Wali Gali, Shadipur village.
The police reached the spot and came to know that the local people had taken the injured youth to Patel Hospital. His scooty was found at the spot. On going to the hospital, the police came to know that the doctors had declared the young man brought dead. He was identified as Pankaj Thakur through the papers recovered from him. There were injury marks on his body.
The police scanned the footage of nearby CCTV cameras. Saw in a footage that Pankaj was being beaten up by two people in a cab. He fell unconscious during the beating. Police started identifying the accused through the cab number. The cab riders were identified as Manish Kumar and Lalchand, residents of Shadipur village. Both were missing from their homes.
The police raided their hideouts and arrested them from the area itself on Sunday afternoon. During interrogation, the accused told that both were roaming in the street in the cab at night. Pankaj was standing in the street with his scooty. They asked him to side the scooty and give way. They had an argument on this matter.
