The Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy has been extended again to benefit EV buyers in the national capital. On Thursday (November 28), the Delhi government announced its decision to extend it by another four months. This is likely to be the last time it has been extended since its introduction in 2020. The EV policy, which was initially for three years, has now been extended for more than a year. And this will be applicable on EVs purchased till March 31 next year. Subsidies and tax relief for EV buyers under the Delhi EV Policy will continue during this period.
The decision to go ahead with the Delhi EV policy comes at a time when the national capital is in the grip of severe pollution. The state government is trying to promote electric vehicles in the private and commercial sectors to reduce vehicular emissions. The decision to continue the existing policy has been taken with the aim of promoting EVs amid high pollution. The state government is also preparing a new EV policy. Which is currently under discussion among the stakeholders.

He said registration of electric vehicles in Delhi has increased from 4 per cent to 12 per cent in 2019-20, the highest among all cities in India. Taking forward the existing EV policy, she announced, “The policy has been extended till March 31, 2025. I urge all Delhiites to buy electric vehicles in large numbers so that we can effectively fight pollution.” Delhi Government We are committed to this war against pollution and the electric vehicle policy is an important part of this effort.”
