The Aam Aadmi Party accused LG VK Saxena of forcibly inaugurating the new campus of IP University at Surajmal Vihar in east Delhi on Thursday. The party says that by showing fear of suspending the vice-chancellor and officials of IP University, the LG got himself invited to the inauguration ceremony of the new campus. VK Saxena is the first LG to inaugurate an educational institution after independence. Till now only the Chief Minister or the Education Minister used to inaugurate. Why is the LG interfering even when education is a subject of the elected government? ‘AAP’ has challenged the LG that by releasing the LG list, tell what has been the contribution of the central government in the campus construction of IP University. After all, why did LG get PM Modi’s photos installed by putting pressure on the officials?
On the other hand, Delhi’s Higher Education Minister Atishi asked LG Vinay Saxena in a press conference that why is LG lagging behind in taking credit for Arvind Kejriwal’s work? When IP University is a State University. The entire construction and course of its East Campus has been designed by the Delhi Government, so why did LG come to inaugurate it? Why did the LG put pressure on the University and the Higher Education Department that if they do not get the East Campus of IP University inaugurated, they will suspend the officers?
Higher Education Minister said that why is LG doing this forcefully? Doesn’t LG Saheb know that education is a transferred subject? Does he not know that higher education is the responsibility of the elected government of Delhi? He asked the LG that it has been 8-10 months since he came to this post and the Kejriwal government is working for the last 8 years. Still why do you keep on jumping and competing to take credit for that work and get photographed?
He said that today LG has told the whole world that PM Modi does not have any university of his own on which he can put his photo. There is no such higher education institute, which they can proudly tell the world that they have built it. That’s why today LG has to put PM Modi’s photo on Arvind Kejriwal’s university. He said that it has become clear in front of the country that only Arvind Kejriwal does the work and PM Modi also has to take credit by putting his photo on Kejriwal’s work.
The Higher Education Minister said that being a citizen of Delhi, I request LG that this country and city is run by the constitution and the same constitution has given some responsibility to the elected government of Delhi and some responsibility to you, but since you You have become LG, you are busy jumping in front of Arvind Kejriwal’s work and clicking photographs. The constitution has given you the responsibility of land, law and order and police. You don’t even spend a minute on it. This is the reason why today in Delhi no woman can step out of the house after dark.
He said that we have just seen how witnesses are killed in broad daylight. How a girl was dragged for several kilometers and the police did nothing. Women are being raped, violence is happening, they are being killed and LG is busy posing for photographs in front of Arvind Kejriwal’s work. He said that you are sitting on a constitutional post, maintain its dignity and give security to women, give security to the people of Delhi, stop incidents of violence, rape and murder.
