The Delhi government has taken a big step to solve the problems being faced by the residents of the capital regarding water supply. The government will organize and monitor uninterrupted water supply like China, France and Italy. After this, water supply will be ensured in all the areas as per the requirement. On Thursday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a high-level review meeting and ordered central monitoring of water supply from July 1. At the same time, instructions have also been given to complete the work of flow meters in all the areas by December 31. During this, the Chief Minister also expressed displeasure over the delay in installation of meters.
After the meeting, the Chief Minister said that according to the assessment of Delhi Jal Board, there is no data of water available in Delhi. This water is being supplied in different areas of Delhi, but water is not coming inside DJB’s audit system. In many areas water comes from low pressure, while in many areas water does not reach. Regarding this, he has given strict instructions to the officials to complete the work of installing flow meters on all the necessary pipelines soon.
Will be supplied according to need
The Delhi Government is bringing the Jal Board’s network under the purview of the SCODA system. Its basis will be the flow meter. It will be installed on primary and secondary UGR. And the data central location of all flow meters will also be visible. By connecting all the flow meters to Skoda, the water going into every pipeline in all the areas can be monitored at the Jal Board’s headquarters. After this, water will be supplied according to the requirement-
This is how flowmeter works
According to the water pressure in each pipeline, it is decided how much water is supplied in the concerned area. The flowmeter measures this pressure of the water. From this it can be estimated that in which area the amount of water was sent through which pipeline. Flowmeter is a kind of hardware. The data coming out of it is sent to the programmable logic device. From here the figure goes to Skoda. Skoda is a kind of graphical user interface. It is also called Human Machine Interface (HMI) in the language of engineering. The operator takes a decision by understanding the flowmeter data that comes in the Skoda.
limited water availability
The Delhi government says that the availability of water here is limited. Delhi has to meet its water requirements from external sources. Delhi gets most of its water from the Yamuna and Ganga rivers. This water is also not enough according to the population of Delhi. In 1994, there was an agreement between some states regarding water. A limit of water was fixed in it. Even today Delhi is getting the same amount of water as was decided in 1994. Whereas now the population of Delhi has increased a lot. In such a situation, every drop of water is precious.
352 flowmeters are installed at the primary level: Statistics of Delhi Jal Board show that there are 352 flowmeters installed at the primary level. There, there is a need to install 108 flowmeters. On the other hand, there is a need to install flowmeters at 4053 locations of the secondary main water line and so far flowmeters have been installed on 2456 pipelines.
Work going on for equal distribution of water: Bhardwaj
Water Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj told that right now work is being done on ensuring that water is delivered with high pressure in every area along with distributing water equally in Delhi. For this, it is very important to find out how much water is being supplied in which area. It has been seen many times that due to some fault, the water supply of some area is reduced and the water supply is increased in some area. There is no automatic way of supplying water.
