Delhi Rain: Heavy rains wreaked havoc in Delhi on Wednesday. This heavy rain caused waterlogging in many areas of the national capital. The situation became so bad that the Meteorological Department had to issue a ‘red’ alert. Heavy rains have been recorded in Delhi as well as Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad adjoining the capital. After this, there was a terrible traffic jam here. Apart from this, there have also been reports of houses collapsing at many places in Delhi.

The Meteorological Department said that the National Flash Flood Guidance Bulletin has also included Delhi in the list of ‘Areas of Concern’. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), 112.5 mm of rain was recorded in an hour at the Pragati Maidan Observatory in central Delhi. Heavy rain was witnessed here in a short time.

A woman and a child drowned in Mayur Vihar
Meanwhile, there was also news of a woman and a child drowning in a drain in Mayur Vihar Phase 3 area of ​​East Delhi. A rescue operation was launched to retrieve the bodies.

100 mm of rain in an hour
So much rain in such a short time, especially 100 mm rain within an hour is a sign of cloudburst somewhere. However, the Meteorological Department officials have not given any official statement regarding this.

Red alert issued
The IMD has advised people to stay indoors, secure windows and doors, and avoid unnecessary travel. The weather department has also issued a ‘red’ alert, which calls for action and vigilance. To reduce the risk, it is advised to take safe shelter and avoid the cover of trees.

Waterlogging in these areas
Several areas including Lutyens Delhi, Kashmiri Gate and Rajendra Nagar were inundated after heavy rains. Images from Qutub Minar area in south Delhi showed vehicles moving through waterlogged roads while traffic policemen managed the movement of vehicles. The traffic police has issued an alert about the affected routes and has asked people to plan their routes accordingly.

Rajendra Nagar is again filled with water
In this disastrous rain, Rajendra Nagar area of ​​Delhi was flooded once again. This is the same area where recently three students died due to waterlogging in the basement of Rao Coaching Center. At the same time, students were seen protesting in this rain for justice for these students.

The IMD said in a forecast that heavy rain is expected in Delhi during the next two hours. Apart from this, thunderstorms with lightning and winds blowing at a speed of 50 kmph are also expected at isolated places during this period.
