The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed X Corp and Google Inc to remove the derogatory posts made against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s daughter Anjali Birla from social media platforms. Anjali Birla had termed the posts made on social media as baseless and demanded their removal. Anjali Birla had approached the High Court in this matter. Justice Naveen Chawla has banned further dissemination of the posts made on social media.

The High Court said that the social media post will be removed within 24 hours. If the complainant comes to know about any such post, she will inform X and Google about it. The High Court also issued notice to X, Google, Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and unknown parties on the suit. The court has asked them to respond within four weeks.
The officer has sought directions to remove social media posts which alleged that she cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam in her first attempt due to her father’s influence. Her counsel submitted that she had appeared for UPSC, Central Services Examination (CSE) and was selected in the consolidated reserve list of 2019. She joined the Indian Railways as an IRPS officer.
