Following an FIR registered in 2021, the National Investigation Agency arrested the accused on October 22, 2022.

The prosecution alleged that he spread the ideology of ISIS through cyberspace and spread hatred against the Indian government by promoting enmity against Hindus on social media. It was also alleged that he had transferred funds from his bank account to ISIS and during the investigation various materials including oath of allegiance, methods of preparing explosive materials etc. were recovered from him.
