Delhi was till now a city of problems only but now it is also becoming a city of accidents and deaths. In the last one year, many such incidents or accidents happened in different places of Delhi which could have been prevented. All these accidents were the result of the negligence of the Delhi government. Last year, there was a fire in a commercial building in Mukherjee Nagar where coaching was going on due to the wrongly installed electricity meter on the staircase, a massive fire in an illegally running child care center in Vivek Vihar, the death of two people due to waterlogging in Kirari, recently there was a young man’s death due to electric shock at the colony gate in Patel Nagar or the incident of 12 feet of drain water filling up in the basement library in Rajendra Nagar within 2 minutes.
In all these incidents, people from newborns to promising youth lost their lives and there was huge loss of life and property. All the agencies related to maintenance of buildings in Delhi, its security, electricity, water, licenses are either with the Delhi government or the MCD. Here, Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party has been in power in the Delhi government for the last ten years and now the AAP party is in power in the MCD as well.
The question is that how can any hospital, institute or any office be running illegally without the negligence, corruption and inefficiency of these agencies. If these agencies had carried out their work honestly in time, then all these accidents and deaths due to them could have been prevented. Today, such a network of wires is spread on the electricity poles in the whole of Delhi that it is scary to see them, the same is the condition of the drains of Jal Board, PWD and MCD, which should be cleaned before the monsoon but it does not happen.
The condition of the fire brigade is such that the same officer has been the head of the Delhi Fire Service for the last nine years. Whenever there is an accident, the facilities never reach on time. What to say about the MCD, it has become their profession to get illegal construction done by taking money. But the question is that Kejriwal and his ministers have control over all these agencies but no one is ready to take responsibility from their side.
Now they have started crying a new cry that the officers don’t listen to us. Think how sad and funny this is. The truth is that how can we expect the betterment of Delhi from the Kejriwal government whose Chief Minister and two important ministers are themselves in jail for years and months in corruption cases.
Whenever a big accident happens, legal action is taken against the concerned institute or office, but why no strict legal action is taken against those government agencies or their officers whose negligence or corruption causes this problem? All the coaching institutes, private hospitals or any other form of business pay a huge amount of tax to the government, despite this the government does not pay any attention to how to create a better and safer environment at all these places.
Now it will not work just by saying that the Delhi government is useless and is not able to do anything. Delhi is the capital of the country. The responsibility of improving the system here is of the state government as well as the central government. In such a situation, if the state government fails on every front, then LG, the central government will have to directly intervene and set Delhi right. If this does not happen, then Delhi is on the verge of destruction.
