To demand exemption, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, public representatives and victims’ groups met the LG and put forth their demands. Taking cognizance of their demand, the LG approved a rehabilitation package including provision of Home Ministry jobs for the victims of Sikh riots on 16 January 2006. The Revenue Department later received 72 applications in a special drive. In this, 22 applicants were given appointment after getting age relaxation from the then LG.
In October 2024, Saxena provided complete relaxation in the educational qualification required for the post of MTS for the missing 50 applicants out of the total 72 applicants received during the special drive. The Revenue Department was also directed to process cases involving employment to one of the children of the applicants in cases where the applicants have crossed the age of employment. Following the instructions, the Revenue Department organized special camps during 28 Nov 24 to 30 Nov 24.
Employment applications were invited for them. Subsequently, a total of 199 applications were received, out of which 89 candidates were found eligible, but all of them were above the age limit and some also missed the required educational qualification. LG’s approval for relaxation will remove hurdles for 88 applicants for their appointment as MTS in government service. Under the decision, complete relaxation in required educational qualification and age limit up to 55 years was approved for 88 applicants.
