In Delhi’s Excise Policy case, ED has arrested one more person on Thursday. According to officials, businessman Dinesh Arora has been arrested in a money laundering case related to the case.
Arora has been declared an approver in the same case being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Arora, considered close to jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, is the 13th person to be arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the case so far. Last year, a city court had accepted the CBI’s request to make Arora an approver in the case.
The ED has so far filed five charge sheets in the case, including the charge sheet against the former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister. In 2022, the ED filed its first charge sheet in the case. The agency said it has conducted more than 200 search operations in the case so far after registering the FIR and taking cognizance of the CBI case. The case was registered on the recommendation of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
In October, the ED had raided nearly three dozen locations in Delhi and Punjab after arresting Sameer Mahendru, managing director of Indospirit Group, a liquor distributor based in Delhi’s Jor Bagh, in this case. Mahendru was later arrested. The CBI has also filed its first chargesheet in the case earlier this week.
