The date of April 26 has been fixed for the mayoral election in Delhi. Mayor Shaili Oberoi has confirmed this date and sent it to the Urban Development Department of Delhi. While giving this information on Sunday, Minister of Urban Development Department and nominated member of the Corporation, Saurabh Bhardwaj said that if the rules are followed properly by the Lieutenant Governor’s office, then it is expected that this time the election of the mayor will be held in a peaceful manner. At the same time, the name of the candidates for the mayor has not been cleared yet, while it was believed that the Aam Aadmi Party would make Shaili Oberoi the candidate for the post of mayor again.
However, in response to the question whether Shelly will be the candidate for the post of new Mayor or not, Saurabh Bhardwaj has said that he is not aware of it, it will be decided by his party. According to the DMC Act, it is the responsibility of the existing mayor to elect a new mayor. Hearing on petition today
The Supreme Court will hear on Monday the state government’s petition challenging the nomination of 10 members in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. A bench comprising Chief Justice (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha and Justice JB Pardiwala had issued notice to the Lieutenant Governor’s office on March 29 after hearing senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
