Elections will be held again for the standing committee in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi today. There are chances of an uproar. The process of polling, which started on Wednesday night, could not be completed till the next day morning. Yesterday morning, the House was adjourned till Friday after ruckus and scuffles overnight. Now today again the court will be decorated. BJP is demanding re-voting for the Standing Committee.

After the election of the mayor and deputy mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the standing committee election was stuck due to the ruckus on Wednesday night. Aam Aadmi Party and BJP councilors pelted each other with kicks and punches and threw water bottles inside the House during the Standing Committee elections. Mayor Shaili Oberoi has alleged that BJP corporators attacked her too. The proceedings of the House continued intermittently with uproar till midnight.

Senior AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said the session will not end without the standing committee elections. Even if the House continues for several days. The Standing Committee will also be made up of you. The Supreme Court has ordered the election of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and six members of the Standing Committee to be held in the first meeting itself. However, when the uproar did not end even on Thursday morning, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till Friday.

how the whole controversy started

Actually, in the election of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, there was a ban on taking mobiles along with the members during voting. All the members also followed it. Both these elections were completed peacefully. But this mobile was allowed in the Standing Committee only after which the whole ruckus started. After this, the Mayor adjourned the proceedings of the House for an hour and said that as soon as he returns, he will start the election of the Standing Committee, but after a delay of about two hours, the Mayor returned to the chair. During this, the councilors recited Hanuman Chalisa in the House and also sang patriotic songs. Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bajrang Bali were chanted in the house. BJP councilor Shikha Rai questioned Corporation Secretary Bhagwan Singh that Mayor Madam is returning to her chair, she has been missing for two hours. After about ten minutes, the mayor returned to the chair.

As soon as he returned to the House, the Mayor said that no member should put a stamp on the ballot paper for the election of the Standing Committee, rather he would have to vote by writing 1, 2, 3 on the ballot paper for the candidate of his choice. Apart from this, if any member writes something else on the ballot paper, then his vote will be invalid. The mayor said that the election of six members of the standing committee would be completed in one and a half hours and mobile phones would be allowed during voting. BJP councilors opposed this.

Accused of taking photo of ballot paper

The BJP corporators alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party corporators were clicking photographs of the ballot papers after casting their votes and the ruckus in the House intensified. The Mayor appealed to the members to allow the voting to take place peacefully. He said that the councilor who creates ruckus will be thrown out of the house. The Mayor said that due to the decision not to carry the mobile in the morning, the dignity of many people was hurt, so he has given permission to carry the mobile.

Corporation secretary told the rules to the mayor

Corporation Secretary Bhagwan Singh told the Mayor that mobile is not allowed during voting. After this, the mayor refused to vote with mobile, till then 45 votes were cast, but BJP councilors said that the councilors who had voted with mobile earlier should be made illegal. The mayor said it was not possible. Earlier, the councilors who have been given ballot papers to vote, should return them, but even after asking them to return the ballot papers by taking the names of many councillors, the councilors were not ready to return the ballot papers. After the uproar throughout the night, the uproar continued in the House in the morning as well, when the Mayor adjourned the proceedings of the House till tomorrow.
