New Delhi. A pair of sika deer of rare species of Japanese breed has arrived in the zoo. They have been brought from Jaipur Zoo under the Animal Exchange Program. In view of the heat, special arrangements have been made for them. Coolers and sprinklers have been installed in their enclosures. However, they are still kept in Quarantine.
There is enthusiasm among wildlife lovers due to the arrival of Sika deer in the zoo. Along with this, two reindeer have been sent from here to Jaipur. Preparations were going on in full swing for a long time to bring Sika deer here. Like other wild animals, Sika deer also remain the center of attraction among the visitors coming to the zoo. Let me tell you that there was a deer here last year, but the dogs attacked and injured it, after which it died. Including the sika deer, the number of species of wildlife in the zoo has increased to more than 95.
In such a situation, his enclosure was lying vacant for a long time. Enclosures have also been prepared for the new animals coming here. The arrival of Sika deer will increase the attraction of the zoo. Along with this, soon more wildlife will be brought here. Zoo’s Range Officer Saurabh Vashisht said that the process to bring them was going on for a long time. This season is good for them, due to which they remain more active at this time. Here he can adjust himself, for this every possible environment is being provided to him.

These deer are shy creatures of the species and stay away from the human population. Actually sika deer are found in Japan and some countries in the north-east. Sika deer is very rare in the country, especially for a state like Rajasthan. It is 90 to 120 cm from the shoulder, 155 cm in length and weighs more than 40 kg. In this the males are bigger and wear horns. In summer they are light brown in colour, with distinct white spots, while in winter they are darker. In this their spots fade.
