Amid allegations and counter-allegations of horse-trading of newly elected corporators, the politics of Delhi heated up throughout the day on Saturday. The BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress accused each other of being honest. BJP said that AAP is trying to buy their corporators.
A complaint was also lodged with the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) late in the evening, whereas AAP said that the state leadership of BJP is luring AAP councilors for cross-voting in the election of mayor and luring them with huge sums of money. Here, the Congress says that the AAP and the BJP are scrambling to get their councilors in their fold. All the parties are talking about disclosing the matter claiming that their councilors are honest.
Kejriwal’s agents trying to buy corporators: BJP
The BJP claims that the Aam Aadmi Party and its agents are conspiring to get the councilors on their side. Allurements are being given to BJP councilors to give regional funds and additional funds. BJP’s national spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala alleges that before the elections, Kejriwal was distributing tickets by taking money.
Now his agents are trying to buy BJP corporators. He has the proof of this and he is preparing to get the investigation done by handing over all the evidence to the ACB. Late in the evening, the BJP councilor also complained to the ACB. Poonawalla said that in most of the states the deposits of the Aam Aadmi Party were forfeited. AAP party chief Kejriwal was claiming on paper that his government would be formed in MCD and BJP would get only 30 seats. His claims and false promises were thwarted by the people of Delhi. Kejriwal’s Delhi model failed, so he has now come up with a new model of temptation for councillors. Their agents are busy in buying and selling councilors by roaming every street.
At the same time, BJP state spokesperson Harish Khurana said that till date Kejriwal, who talked about Operation Lotus, could not give a single proof to prove it, but he has full proof of his Operation Jhadu. A complaint has been lodged with the ACB.
BJP councilor said – got offer from AAP
BJP corporator from Anand Vihar, Dr. Monika Pant alleged that on Friday Kejriwal’s very close friend Shikha Garg called her and asked her to discuss something together. When he asked to talk on the phone itself, his answer was that it is very important, so we will talk together. After about 10-15 minutes, she came to meet him and by giving him various kinds of inducements, asked him to support AAP. When she refused to do so, she said that she would give extra funds along with regional funds. Still he refused.
BJP threatening and alluring: Sanjay
The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the BJP of threatening and luring the councilors. AAP’s Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh said in a press conference held at the party headquarters that despite having 30 seats less in the corporation, the BJP is openly talking about making its mayor, but the elected councilors of AAP are not for sale.
Describing the BJP as an Indian hollow party, he said that despite losing 80 seats as compared to the last election, BJP has started the work of threatening and buying corporators, but AAP corporators are standing with Kejriwal’s leadership with full loyalty and honesty. Huh. He demanded the police commissioner to arrest such people who are trying to poach councilors through money and threats. Along with this, the Election Commission has also sought intervention.
Offers are being received from both the parties: Congress
State Congress alleges that their councilors are getting calls from BJP and Aam Aadmi Party. In this, temptation is being given to vote in favor of the party. State President Anil Kumar said that BJP and Aam Aadmi Party made every possible effort to suppress the campaign of Congress by using money power in the corporation elections. People have deflated AAP’s claim of winning 230 seats.
Former state president Subhash Chopra said that Kejriwal, who talked about clean politics, also tried unsuccessfully to buy his councilor on the lines of BJP. State Vice President Ali Mehndi along with two councilors of Mustafabad wanted to join the Aam Aadmi Party. The officials of Mustafabad were misled in the name of development in the area, which is the latest example of Kejriwal’s dirty politics. Bureau
You councilor said – offers are being received on the phone
- Pintu Sharma, father of AAP’s Ward 88 councilor Dr. Runakshi Sharma, alleged that BJP leader Yogendra Chandaulia called him and said that state president Adesh Gupta will talk to you. During the phone conversation, Adesh said that he has to collect 10 councilors by any means. There is a budget of Rs 10 crore per councillor.
- Ward 166’s councilor Arun Navariya told that his colleagues are being threatened. He has also received death threats.
- According to Subhash Chandra, husband of Ward 207 corporator Jyoti Rani, a friend of his told him that an offer had come. They have been asked to do cross voting. For this he will get Rs 50 lakh.
BJP councilor filed complaint in ACB
Newly elected BJP councilor from Anand Vihar Dr. Monika Pant along with MLA Vijender Gupta met Anti-Corruption Branch chief Madhur Vyas on Saturday evening and handed over the complaint against AAP leader Shikha Garg. During this, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor and Ajay Sehrawat were also present. After registering the complaint, Vijender said that this matter of cross-voting in the House by giving political lure to Pant has exposed the black face of AAP. This clearly shows that AAP is fuming with the meager majority it got in the elections and is now busy in breaking other parties. Pant said that Shikha had approached her posing as a representative of AAP MP Sushil Gupta.
Yogendra’s challenge to Sanjay, file a case
After the statement of Sanjay Singh, BJP leader Yogendra Chandaulia has challenged that if you have guts, then register a case against him. According to Chandaulia, Sanjay Singh has used his name that he is luring AAP councilors with crores of rupees. You are a party of liars and dishonest people.
Chandaulia challenged that if the Aam Aadmi Party has the courage, then they should show it by filing a case against him. On the other hand, Delhi State Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that BJP is making false claims of horse-trading of its councilors to divert attention from the matter when the corporator exposed AAP’s crimes.
