DDA action in Delhi’s Mehrauli

The state Congress has targeted the Center and the Delhi government over the action of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Mehrauli, Delhi. State Congress President Anil Kumar said on Sunday that on one hand the Center and the Delhi government are celebrating the golden age of independence, while on the other hand people are being rendered homeless due to the action of the DDA. Demolition of JJ clusters and flats without providing alternative accommodation is inhuman and illegal. LG and Union Urban Development Minister should intervene in the matter. He said that by promising houses where there are slums, Kejriwal and the BJP government are cheating the poor by rendering them homeless. When there are about 60,000 flats without allotment under the Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojana of the Congress government in Delhi, the government has hatched a conspiracy to render people homeless.
House tax and electricity bills were also being filled by getting the registry done for the demolished flats in Mehrauli and approval was also obtained from the Revenue Department and Fire Department for the installation of lift. If DDA and Delhi government officials are involved in corruption then why are those who bought flats with their lifetime savings are being punished. The Kejriwal government, along with the BJP, is now showing sympathy by uprooting the poor.
‘BJP taking revenge after losing the election’
The state president alleged that just before the MCD elections, the keys were handed over to five families in a symbolic ceremony. The Congress government had got 3024 such flats constructed in Kalkaji Extension. The BJP had also promised in the MCD election manifesto to provide in-situ flats to all the residents of JJ cluster, but after losing the corporation elections, the BJP is acting in a vendetta against the people. The Kejriwal government has also not allotted many flats yet.
