Delhi Air Quality: Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said on Thursday (October 24) that in view of the increasing pollution in Delhi, he has stopped morning walk for the last few days. During an informal conversation with journalists, he said that the level of pollution is very high in the morning. Smoke is clearly visible in the air. In such a situation, walking will have less health benefits and more harm.
Referring to the rising air pollution levels, he said, “I have stopped going for morning walks from today (October 24). I usually go for walks around 4-4.15 in the morning.” DY Chandrachud is retiring on 10th November.
Cheap Justice’s doctor refuses to go for walk
The Chief Justice said that his doctor had advised him to stop going out in the morning. The doctor has said that it is better to stay at home rather than getting respiratory disease.
Journalists were asked questions about celebrating Diwali
Chief Justice Chandrachud had called the journalists reporting on the Supreme Court for an informal meeting before Diwali. During this, a journalist jokingly asked him that how to celebrate Diwali, you people have stopped the firecrackers. On this, the Chief Justice expressed his views regarding the pollution of Delhi.
He also abolished the mandatory law degree requirement for accrediting journalists covering Supreme Court proceedings. He said that accredited journalists will now get the facility to park their vehicles in the Supreme Court premises. When asked about his plans after retirement, the CJI said that he will take rest for the first few days.
