Expansion

The Red Line of the Metro will now run with the Indigenous Signaling System (I-ATS). It is a computer based automatic train supervision system which will automatically control the trains. Delhi Metro’s first train control and supervision system in the field of rail-based MRTS, i-ATS (Indigenous-Automatic Train Supervision) has been developed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) as part of the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. developed under.

With this achievement, India has become the sixth country in the world to have its own ATS system. On Saturday, Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, launched this i-ATS system from the Operations Control Center (OCC) Shastri Park.

Metro MD Vikas Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director Bhanu Prakash Srivastava and others were present on the occasion. Delhi Metro has commissioned the country’s first train control and super vision system, i-ATS, on the Red Line (Rithala to Shaheed Sthal).

This system will also be used in separate corridors of Phase-IV project along with other operational corridors of Delhi Metro. Also can be used in Indian Railways operations along with other rail based systems. This technology has been developed by making suitable modifications in various signaling vendor systems.

operated by computer

  • ATS is a computer based system that manages train operations. The CBTC system is mainly controlled by outside countries.
  • A dedicated team from DMRC and BEL worked closely together to develop the operational technology.
  • The use of i-ATS will significantly reduce the dependence of the Indian Metro on foreign vendors providing such technology. For this, DMRC and BEL had entered into an agreement in November, 2022.
