Delhi Traffic Police constable became victim of robbery in New Usmanpur area of North-East Delhi. While taking a short look at the Signature Bridge, two miscreants pushed him down into the ditch. The miscreants tried to rob him when he fell down and got injured. On protesting, attacked with a knife.
When the victim grabbed the knife, his fingers were cut. After this, the miscreants fled after looting his mobile phone, six thousand cash, Icard, Aadhaar, three ATMs and other items. Police admitted the victim to Jag Pravesh Chand Hospital. On Thursday, the police took his statement and registered a case under the sections of robbery and assault.
According to the police, the victim lives with Mohit’s family at Shalimar Garden, Extension, Ghaziabad. He is a Havaldar in Delhi Traffic Police. Presently he is posted in Model Town Traffic Circle. He was returning home from duty on his bike at around 10.15 pm on Wednesday night. He was returning via the Signature Bridge. Meanwhile, after crossing the Signature Bridge, he paused briefly.
Then two miscreants pushed the sergeant down the road into a ditch. The victim Mohit Kumar (35) fell about 20 feet. The accused reached there and overpowered him and started looting. On protesting, a boy took out a knife and attacked him. When he tried to hold the knife with his hand in defense, his fingers were cut.
After this the miscreants looted him and fled towards the forest. The police have registered a case after taking Mohit’s statement. Now the matter is being investigated with the help of CCTV cameras installed nearby.
