In Jaffrabad’s Ambedkar Basti, on Thursday afternoon, miscreants barged into the house and committed robbery by taking an elderly couple hostage. On protesting, the miscreants killed the woman Shamim (70) by strangulation, while husband Abbas (70) was attacked with a knife and injured. When the tenant Zahid (22) reached there, the miscreants also stabbed and injured him.
According to the police, all the four sons of the couple are married and live at different places. Earlier Abbas had a cloth business. Now he had stopped working. Used to live with the money received from the tenant. Shamim lived on the ground floor with her husband. Tenants live upstairs. In the afternoon, five-six miscreants entered inside the house and tied up the couple at knifepoint.
After this the miscreants started looting the house. When Shamim protested, the miscreants strangulated him. After this, the miscreants escaped after stabbing Abbas and Shamim. After the people around informed the police about the incident, the injured were taken to Jagpravesh Chand Hospital. The police have registered a case of murder and dacoity.
The police is trying to identify the miscreants by scanning the CCTV footage. Additional District Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandhya Swami said that several teams have been formed to investigate the matter. Apart from looting, police is probing the case from other aspects including enmity and property dispute.
People are in panic, accused the police
There is an atmosphere of panic in the area after the incident. People are angry about the police. They say that the miscreants are carrying out the crime in broad daylight, but the police are not able to curb the miscreants. Every day miscreants are committing crimes in the area and the police remain mute spectators.
