If 10 years old diesel or 15 years petrol vehicle has been completed then you will be able to declare it yourself for scrapping. Due to this, there will be no danger of confiscation of vehicles, nor will there be any worry of scrapping the expired vehicles.
Even if your vehicle has been scrapped, you will be able to give information to the Transport Department. The Transport Department will develop an app to survey vehicles. It will be linked to Aadhaar and will provide complete details of vehicles on a single click. This app will work in getting the vehicle scrapped.
Preparations are being made by the Transport Department to start Voluntary Disclosure of Scrap (VDS) facility to provide relief to old vehicle owners. This will give relief to all the vehicle owners.
From the point of view of security, they will also be able to share scrap information on the lines of Voluntary Declaration of Income (VDIS). Transport department official says people are being encouraged to scrap vehicles to curb pollution. The initiative in the direction of VDS will benefit the vehicle owners as well as the department.
Aadhaar will tell the complete details of your vehicle
OTP will be issued on entering your mobile number under VDS. After this, on giving the details of the Aadhaar card, the complete details of the vehicle will be revealed. If the vehicle is scrapped, it can be declared voluntarily. Even if the vehicle has to be scrapped after the expiry of the term, then also you will be able to use this app or website.
Security will not be worried: There is a provision of concession on the purchase of new vehicles from the certificate issued on scrapping vehicles. It is also very important from the point of view of security. For this, vehicles are scrapped after deregistration. After scrapping private vehicles, strong documents are not available in terms of security. In such a situation, there is a danger of misuse of vehicles.

The process of scrapping old vehicles has been going on for many years. Till now vehicles were being scrapped from private scrap dealers. They kept getting more amount in exchange for scrap, but in terms of security, it is the advice of the experts to get the vehicles scrapped from the authorized agencies only. For this, the government authorized eight agencies. Licenses for scrap yards have been taken in the cities of Delhi-NCR after the implementation of Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility Rules (RVSF)-2021. The vehicles seized under the drive are scrapped at the authorized agencies. At present, agencies are scrapping the vehicles coming out of 12 zones of MCD.
If not needed, you can also sell COD: Certificate of Deposit (COD) is issued after scrapping vehicles in authorized agencies. It can get other concessions including exemption on road tax on buying new vehicles. If you do not need this certificate, then you can also sell it. This can also provide relief to those who buy new vehicles.
Two-wheelers account for 47% of e-vehicles
Two-wheelers have been the largest share in the purchase of e-vehicles in Delhi. During January to March, 18175 e-vehicles were sold. Of these, 47 per cent are two wheelers, while 33 per cent are three wheelers. These include e-autos, e-rickshaws and goods carrier e-vehicles. During this period, the share of e-cars was 19 percent.
From the year 2020 till the first quarter of this year, more than one lakh e-vehicles have been registered in Delhi. A total of 25808 e-vehicles have been sold in 2020, 62241 in 2021, while 18765 in 2022. The sales figure of 18,000 e-vehicles in the first quarter of the year is slightly less than last year’s total sales.
