Now DU students will also have to appear for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to postgraduate (PG) courses in Delhi University for the academic session 2023-24. CUET score will be considered solely for admission. Like last year, there will be no admission through entrance and merit. CUET paper will be prepared on the basis of each PG course. CUET will also be conducted for PG by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

In the Academic Council meeting on Wednesday in DU, the proposal and eligibility for admission in PG through CUET was passed after discussion. Till now the admission for undergraduate students from Delhi University was based on merit and for students graduating from other universities through entrance examination. But from this year every student has to appear in CUET for admission in PG.

These courses of third semester passed

Academic council member Dr. Alok Ranjan Pandey said that more than fifty courses of the third semester were also passed in the council meeting held on Wednesday. These include Spanish, Persian, Philosophy, Journalism, Arabic, English, Bengali, Telugu, B.Com Honors, Urdu, Geography, Social Work, History, Political Science, Bio Chemistry, Food Technology and other courses. Along with this, approval has also been given to start BA Honors Psychology in the School of Open Learning under the Campus of Open Learning. The fee for this course will be Rs 15,200. At the same time, the council has also given approval to start compulsory skill courses to be started in DU.

Now paper will be evaluated for 160 marks

Council member Dr. Pandey told that under the four-year graduation program, paper will now be evaluated for 160 marks. Theory will be of 90, internal 30 and continuous assessment will be of 40 marks. Till last year, evaluation of theory paper was of 75 marks and internal assessment was of 25 marks. In this way earlier the evaluation was of 100 marks. The evaluation of the paper which will be of four credits will be of 160 marks and the evaluation of the paper which will be of two credits will be of 80 marks.

Dr. Pandey told that we have given our written disagreement on this. We objected to this because there are semester exams from next month and till now the students are being told about the evaluation. This is being done in a hurry. Dr. Pandey raised the issues like displacement of Ad-hoc teachers, making a member of DU’s Executive Council in the Management Committee, starting the appointment process of Ad-hoc teachers, EWS seats, not getting salary on time in colleges.
