Will be able to study BA Psychology Hons through distance mode from next session in Delhi University. The School of Open Learning of DU’s Department of Distance and Continuing Education is preparing to start it from the new session starting from July. A proposal to this effect will be placed in the Standing Committee meeting to be held on Thursday. After passing from there, it will be taken to the Academic Council meeting. After running this course at UG level, preparations are being made to start counseling diploma.
Dean and Head of the Department of Distance and Continuing Education Prof. Payal Mago told that this time a data has been taken from DU regarding the most in-demand courses. The data showed that Psychology Honors is the most in demand. But not everyone can get admission in this course. Therefore, it was decided to start this course through distance mode. This is an employable course and doing it will give benefits to the students.
Pro. Payal told that it is currently being placed in the Standing Committee and after passing from there it will be placed in the Academic Council. It will get approval from both the places. The department will appoint faculty for this course and the syllabus taught in the regular college will remain the same for this course.
Practical labs will also be prepared
Practical labs will also be prepared for the study of this course. After this, it is also being considered to start counseling diploma. With this, after studying at UG level, doing diploma will benefit the students. Those who do not get admission in BA Hons Psychology through Common University Entrance Test in regular colleges will get admission in Distance.
In fact, according to the guidelines of the Department of Distance Education, there are three times as many seats in SOL as compared to any regular college course. It may be noted that currently BA Honors Psychology is taught in 12 regular colleges of DU. Till the year 2021, when admissions were done from the cut off, then the cut off of this course used to go up to 99-100 percent. In such a situation, the demand for this course can be estimated.
