The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) office will no longer open after 6 pm. The office will be locked in the evening and its keys will be deposited in the Vice Chancellor’s office. It cannot be opened without permission. Its opening will also be prohibited on Saturdays and Sundays. It will remain closed only on government holidays. Orders have been issued by the DU Proctor’s office after the vandalism incident in the DUSU office last month.

It is known that the DUSU office was damaged a lot in this vandalism incident. Especially the DUSU president’s room was vandalized. The classroom doors of DUSU secretary Aparajita and co-secretary Sachin Baisla were also damaged. The office is closed since this incident. DUSU president Tushar Dedha held vice-president Abhi Dahiya responsible for this incident. Abhi Dahiya denied these allegations. Maurice Nagar police station also registered a primary complaint in this matter.

DU Proctor Rajni Abbi said that now orders have been given to close the DUSU office in the evening. It will remain closed on Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays. Permission will have to be taken to open it. The committee formed to investigate this vandalism incident has submitted its report to the Vice Chancellor. It cannot be made public right now. Whatever order comes from there will be followed. The DU administration will soon issue a tender to build a new office.
