Continuous efforts have been made by DU to keep the students updated. Now the Faculty of Law of Delhi University is in the process of making changes in its curriculum. So that the three new criminal laws implemented in the upcoming academic session can be included. The courses on Indian Penal Code, 1860, Code of Criminal Procedure and Indian Evidence Act, 1872, which came into effect from July 1, will be replaced by courses on Indian Judicial Code, Indian Civil Defense Code and Indian Evidence Act.
The curriculum committee of the Faculty of Law had prepared a draft of the new program last month. It was approved by the Standing Affairs Committee in June. The proposal to change the syllabus has been placed on the agenda of the upcoming Academic Council meeting to be held on July 12. The new session is going to start in August.

Professor Anju Wali Tikoo, Dean of the Faculty of Law, says that if the proposal is passed, we will start teaching it with the beginning of the new academic session. She said that training workshops for teachers have started and teachers are ready to incorporate the changes. The Dean said that most of the material of the new syllabus remains the same, but students and teachers will have to remember the new sections.

Assistant Professor Megh Raj of the Faculty of Law, who was a member of the syllabus committee, says that although there may be some confusion during the change, updating the syllabus on time is a positive step. Prof. Raj said that special classes will have to be arranged for those students who have already studied the old laws, as they will need to know the new laws while applying for further studies or to prepare for competitive examinations.
