It has been 10 to 12 years since he has been doing this business in Dehradun. Earlier he used to sell this cart in Shahdara, Delhi. He says that this moong dal cake is very famous in Delhi and is considered the first choice of the customers. In Dehradun too, customers are liking the taste of moonglets and they eat it with great enthusiasm.

In the capital Dehradun, you can taste Delhi’s famous moong dal at the rate of only ₹ 20 and ₹ 40. You will get half plate for ₹ 20 and full plate of moonglets for ₹ 40. Its recipe is somewhat like omelette, but it is made of mung dal, hence it is called munglet and no eggs are used in it.

How is moonglet prepared?

Moong dal is soaked and ground, after which garam masala is added to it. To make this, moong dal is put in a cup, chopped onion, chopped green chillies are added to it and it is whipped. After that, butter is poured on the pan and moong dal is left to fry. While frying, long chopped beetroot and some pieces of ginger are added over it. This gives sweet and salty taste to moonglets.
