Devuthani Ekadashi fast is considered very important, because on this day Shri Hari wakes up from his sleep after four months and Chaturmas ends. It is also known by names like Devotthan, Dev Prabhodini, Devuthani Gyaras Ekadashi.
Lord Vishnu is worshiped by fasting on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi. Many benefits of this Ekadashi fast have been described in the scriptures. It is believed that by observing fast on Devuthani Ekadashi, all inauspicious rituals are destroyed and salvation is attained.
If there is Moon defect in the horoscope, then observe a water or fruit fast on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi. If you are physically capable, you can also observe Nirjala fast. Due to the effect of Ekadashi fast, the moon becomes strong and the mental state is good.
It is said in the scriptures that a person who worships Lord Vishnu by observing a fast on Devuthani Ekadashi gets the same results as performing a thousand Ashwamedha and hundred Rajasuya Yagyas.
People suffering from Pitrudosh should observe the fast of Devuthani and get spiritual marriage of Tulsi with Shaligram. This definitely mitigates Pitrudosh. Besides, the fear of untimely death also goes away.
Devuthani Ekadashi of Kartik month is said to awaken luck. By observing a fast on this day and worshiping as per the rituals, the sleeping luck also awakens and wealth, happiness and prosperity come into one’s life.
