‘Sholay’ was released in 1975
The film Sholay is still very popular even after decades. This film directed by Ramesh Sippy was released on 15 August 1975. It set new standards of success at the box office. Apart from Amitabh and Dharmendra, actors like Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kapoor, Hema Malini and Amjad Khan also played important roles in the film.
Dharmendra turned red in anger
During the shooting of the climax scene of this film, a big incident could have happened on the set. One day, during a scene, Dharmendra fired a real bullet at Big B. This incident was narrated by Amitabh Bachchan himself on the set of his quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
Ramesh Sippy had also arranged for real bullets for the shooting of the last scene of Sholay. During one scene, Dharmendra had to shoot fake bullets at Amitabh. The scene was not being done properly, so the director made Dharmendra shoot this scene two to three times. But Dharmendra had become red with anger.
Dharmendra had fired a real bullet at Amitabh
When the director asked Dharmendra to do the scene the next time, Dharmendra got angry and put the real bullets kept nearby in the gun and fired at Big B. Thankfully, nothing happened to Big B. Dharmendra missed the target and the bullet passed near Amitabh Bachchan’s ear. Due to Dharmendra’s mistake, Amitabh had a narrow escape from death.
