Dharmendra Once Talked about calling him biggest Boozer or Sharabi of Bollywood

Let us tell you that during the show, the ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ actor gave his reaction on being called the biggest drunkard of Bollywood. He also narrated an anecdote related to drinking alcohol on the sets of ‘Sholay’ and said that every person should enjoy life.

Actually, the veteran actor had once visited Rajat Sharma’s show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’. During this, Dharmendra was asked, “Many stories are told about the fact that when you started drinking, you did not stop. On this, Dharmendra said, “Sometimes when I look in the mirror, the mirror tells me that love killed you, alcohol killed you, otherwise you would not have found anyone equal to you, now I also answer that if there was no alcohol, no love, then this life would not have been worth living.”

When asked why he can’t quit drinking, he replied that he is an extremist. He then added, “I used to quit for 6 months in between, play badminton and sweat it out and then I would start again. I am a bit of an extremist.”

During this time, the veteran actor was also asked whether he is the biggest alcoholic in Bollywood? On this question, Dharmendra said, “My liver is very strong.”

After this, Dharmendra also narrated a funny anecdote from the sets of the film Sholay. He said, “Our cameraman Jim, who was working with us in Sholay, had a habit of carrying 5-6 bottles of beer. I used to sit behind him and drink from his stock secretly. When people from the production told him that he drank 12 bottles, he reacted in surprise, ‘How did this happen? I don’t know! One day he caught me. You should enjoy life.’

The 88-year-old actor also recalled a funny incident from the sets of his film Aag Hi Aag. His co-actress in the film was Mousami Chatterjee who saw him drinking a cold beer. Dharmendra said, “I felt like drinking beer. In the afternoon, I told her to make the beer frothy so that it looks like lassi. When Mousami saw me drinking, she asked, “Hey, Dharmendra, what does he drink? I lied by saying that I am drinking lassi.” She knew I was lying so she asked me, “Give me some too.” I laughed out loud and confessed that I was enjoying my beer. “Beer peena se kuch nahi hota.”

According to a DNA report, after his health deteriorated in 2010, the actor had promised his daughter Esha Deol that he would never touch alcohol again.

The report also states that, in the same year, for a scene in the film Yamla Pagla Deewana, Dharmendra and his two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, had to do a drunken boys’ night out scene, but he refused to drink alcohol. To this, he says, “My masti days are over. I wake up early, do yoga and meditate.”

Dharmendra lives a very healthy lifestyle today and spends most of his time at his farmhouse.
