Rajkumar Singh/Vaishali: As soon as the cold starts, the sale of soft drinks including ice cream also increases. Ice cream is liked very much by people of almost every age group. There is huge consumption of ice cream in Vaishali district also. Vivek Kumar, a resident of Bibipur village in Patedhi Belsar block of the district, is running an ice cream factory established by his father. We are also taking this work forward and expanding it. Vivek took charge of the ice cream factory in 2014. Now we are working hard to take it to new heights. The annual turnover of Vivek’s ice cream factory is more than Rs 50 lakh.

Vivek told that father earlier used to work in an ice cream factory while living in Delhi, from there he learned to make ice cream. After this, in 2005, he came to his village Bibipur and started making ice cream by installing a small machine. Vivek told that after studies, he did not get a decent job, so he started taking forward his father’s work. He has now converted the ice cream business running from a small room into a factory. It has been named Subha Ice Cream Factory. 8 to 10 people work here daily. Vivek has also made many distributors in the border districts including Vaishali and supplies ice cream through them. Ice cream is made here throughout the year, while there is huge sale of ice cream for 9 months of the year.

Plan to expand the factory
Vivek told that they do not sell ice cream retail. Ice cream is supplied through distributorship. 23 types of ice cream are prepared in this factory. 10 people work in this factory. Sometimes artisans have to be called from outside also. He told that the annual turnover of this factory is more than Rs 50 lakh. Vivek told that he is thinking of expanding this factory. We are planning to setup a big factory so that ice cream can be supplied to all the districts of Bihar. He told that ice creams priced from Rs 5 to Rs 50 are prepared in his factory.
