Toor Dal Recipe (Toor Dal Recipe): It is very important to consume pulses along with vegetables to keep the health healthy. The protein present in pulses is capable of fighting many diseases. Actually, lentils are the traditional food of Indian people. It is mainly consumed in North India. If you are also bored of eating many types of vegetables, then you can try toor dal at home. This dal is prepared in a very short time and is also very tasty to eat. It can be eaten in lunch, dinner or both. Let’s know the easy method of making it.

Ingredients needed to make Toor Dal

Toor Dal – 1/2 cup
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Peanuts – half bowl
Ginger – 1 tsp grated
Cumin – 1/2
Jaggery – 2 teaspoons
Oil – 2 tbsp
Curry leaves – 6 to 7 pieces
Tomato – 1 chopped
Kokum – 2 pieces
Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon
Cinnamon – 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida – 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
coriander leaves, finely chopped
salt – as per taste

How to make Toor Dal

To make tur dal, first wash the tur dal thoroughly with water about 4 times. Then take two cups of water in the cooker and put the lentils in it. After this, put this cooker on the gas and cook till about 3 whistles. After the dal is cooked, mix it well. After removing the dal from the cooker, keep a pan on the gas and put oil in it. Wait till this oil becomes hot. After this, tempering mustard seeds, cumin seeds, ginger, curry leaves, cardamom and leaving it to cook for some time. When the dal is almost cooked, add tomato, turmeric powder, red chili and the rest of the spices and mix it. When all the spices put in the pan are cooked well, add cooked lentils, salt, jaggery, peanuts and a little water and cook them well. When the dal comes to a boil, turn off the gas. After this garnish it with coriander leaves. Toor dal can be served with rice or roti.
