Kathal Curry Recipe: With the onset of summer, jackfruit starts arriving in the markets. Its vegetable, which is tasty to eat, is equally beneficial for health. You can easily make it for lunch or dinner. You too must have prepared and eaten jackfruit in many ways at home, but have you tried jackfruit curry? This is enough to change the taste of your food. If you make it at home, then children to elders will go crazy about its taste. This vegetable is also a better option for the guests coming home. Let’s know the easy way to make jackfruit curry.
Ingredients needed to make jackfruit curry
for marination
Jackfruit – 500 grams
Curd – 1/2 cup
Chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Kasoori Methi – 1 tsp
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
salt – as per taste
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Oil (for frying) – 2 tsp

Oil – 2 tsp
Bay leaf – 2
Cinnamon – 1 inch
Cardamom – 4
Cloves – 5
Cumin – 1 tsp
Finely chopped onion – 1
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
salt – as per taste
Finely chopped tomatoes – 2
Water – 1 cup
Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
Coriander leaves (finely chopped) – 2 tbsp

To make jackfruit curry, first take a jackfruit and cut it into small pieces. Now keep these pieces in a big utensil. Keep in mind that before the color of the jackfruit changes, soak the jackfruit in salt water. You can also use frozen or tinned jackfruit for this. Now add curd, chilli powder, turmeric, kasoori methi, ginger-garlic paste, salt and garam masala. Mix this mixture well and marinate for about 30 minutes. Now heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add spiced jackfruit. Now fry it on medium flame and cook the jackfruit well.

On the other hand, take a big pan and heat 2 tbsp oil in it. Now add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and cumin seeds. Keep stirring till the aroma comes from this mixture. Now add onion and ginger-garlic paste to it. When the onion starts turning golden, lighten the flame and add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt. After cooking for some time, tomatoes will be added to it, which will also be allowed to cook till they become soft. Now add fried raw jackfruit (jackfruit) to it and mix well.

Now add water according to need and let it cook covered for about 15 minutes. After the vegetable is cooked, garnish it with garam masala and coriander leaves. Now this tasty can be served with roti, naan or rice.
