On the occasion of Diwali, incidents of fire due to fireworks have been reported at many places in different parts of the country. Today (31 October 2024) a major fire incident has been reported in Kamaraj Nagar area in Ennore, North Chennai. Due to this fire, firecrackers exploded, due to which fire brigade has been sent to the spot to extinguish the fire.

Whereas in Ghaziabad, UP, fire has been reported at 15 places in the entire district. The fire department has received a total of 78 calls between 4 pm and 9 pm, which can give an idea of ​​the seriousness of the situation.

A fire incident took place in a DTC bus near Chahwala police station in Delhi. According to the police, the bus caught fire due to the firecrackers that a passenger was carrying in some quantity. In this incident, a passenger and a co-passenger suffered minor burn injuries. Both have been admitted to IGI Hospital.

Fire in Bokaro, Jharkhand

There have also been incidents of fire in many firecracker shops in Bokaro district of Jharkhand. According to the police, fire broke out in 13-14 temporary firecracker shops located near Garga Bridge on Thursday evening. However, there was no loss of life in this incident. Local police said that the district administration had given permission to these shopkeepers to set up shops temporarily. Bokaro’s BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan said after the incident that if the district administration and fire brigade had been active, such an incident would not have happened.

Death of an old woman in Kolkata

An 82-year-old woman died after her saree was burnt by a candle on the eve of Kali Puja in Kolkata’s Sarsuna Township. Jyotsna Dey’s body suffered 30 percent burns and she was later admitted to the hospital, where she died due to cardiac arrest. The police have registered a case of unnatural death in this case and sent the body for post-mortem.
