Divya Dutta was raised by a single mother after her father died when she was only 7 years old. Dutta had revealed how she used to hide behind her mother’s dupatta out of fear during the Punjab insurgency and pray that no one would shoot her.
She was just 17 years old. After this, she played the supporting role of Bindiya in the film Suraksha opposite Sunil Shetty in 1995. The actress got her first lead role opposite Salman Khan in Veergati and although the film flopped at the box office, Salman’s fans consider it a cult classic.

Divya Dutta was limited to supporting roles in Bollywood but she shone in Punjabi cinema and became a star. She started her journey with the film Shaheed-e-Mohabbat Buta Singh opposite Gurdas Maan and the film was a box office hit.
After this, she appeared in the role of Shabbo in Yash Chopra’s epic love saga Veer-Zaara alongside Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee and this role gave her recognition in Bollywood. The film became a cult classic. After this, the actress never looked back.

Divya Dutta was an outsider in the film industry, so she had to struggle a lot to make a place for herself.

She further said that after winning the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her film Irada, she started becoming the face of her films.
Divya’s latest release is ‘Sharmaji Ki Beti’. She is winning hearts with her acting in this film. The special thing is that this film is the directorial debut of Ayushmann Khurrana’s wife Tahira Kashyap and it has received positive response from the audience.
