This train covers a distance of 13 kilometers via Sutlej River and Shivalik Hills. Any kind of fare is charged from the passengers traveling in this train.
Hundreds of people travel every day
Let us tell you that about 800 people travel by this train every day. However, in 2011, the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) had decided to discontinue this free service due to financial losses. But later it was decided that this train would not be considered a source of income, but should be seen as heritage and tradition. It is noteworthy that the construction work of Bhagra-Nangal Dam was started in 1948, in which a lot of help was taken from the Railways. At that time, this train was used to transport workers and machines. After which, when this dam was formally opened in 1963, hundreds of tourists are enjoying the journey of this train every day.
