The bottle was made for the convenience of mothers
Many times after giving birth to children, feeding them is no less than a big challenge for new mothers. In such a situation, a special type of bottle was invented to provide convenience to the mothers of the Victorian era. According to the report of History Daily, these bottles were either made of glass or clay. A long rubber tuber and then a nipple was attached to these. Its design was like a banjo. The biggest problem with this bottle was cleaning it. In 1861, Mrs Beaton told women in her Household Management Guide that the bottle could be used for 2-3 weeks even without cleaning.

Death of children due to infection
After 20 days of not cleaning the bottle attached to the thin rubber hose and the nipple at one end, bacteria used to accumulate in it. In such a situation, the doctors criticized it. During that time the cases of death of newborn children also started increasing. 2 out of 10 children could not live even for 2 years. Parents kept buying these bottles and children kept dying. Because of these incidents, these bottles were named as Murder Bottles.
