AC is expensive. And the electricity usage of AC is also high, due to which the electricity bill also comes high. That’s why middle class people mostly like to use coolers. But the question that comes in the mind of many people is that an old cooler consumes as much electricity as a new AC. Is this really true? Let us know.

How much electricity is consumed by AC and cooler in a day?

If you have one and a half ton five star AC installed at your place. So approximately 840 watts i.e. 0.8 kwh of electricity is consumed by it in 1 hour. That means it consumes 0.8 units of electricity in 1 hour. If you run AC for 10 hours. So it will consume 8 units of electricity.

If we talk about a cooler, a cooler generally consumes 100 to 200 watts of electricity per hour. That means 0.2 kwh means 0.2 units. If you run the cooler for 10 hours. So it will consume only two units of electricity.

Old cooler does not consume as much electricity as AC

Where a normal new cooler consumes 100 to 200 watts of electricity per hour. So if we talk about an old cooler, it can consume up to 400 watts of power instead of 200 watts. That means it consumes 0.4 units of electricity in 1 hour.

If you run it for 10 hours. So your consumption will be four units of electricity. Whereas in five star AC you run the AC for 10 hours. So it consumes 8 units of electricity. That is, if compared, even an old cooler does not consume as much electricity as an AC.
