Who was Dr. Maria Telkes?
Telkes was born in 1900 in the Hungarian city of Budapest. According to Google Doodle, he was born on 11 December. Telkes was awarded ‘The Society of Women Engineers Achievement Award’ in 1952.
Dr. Telkes studied physical chemistry at Budapest’s Eotovs Lorand University, graduated in 1920 and went to America for further studies with a PhD in 1924 and acquired US citizenship in 1937.

Dr. Telkes was given a place in the Solar Energy Committee at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
