On the occasion of World Earth Day, there will be a gathering of well-known environmental warriors and social workers of the country at the Prithvi Sammelan, to be held on Sunday at Malviya Bhavan, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg. The conference will be inaugurated by Padma Shri Raja Laxman Singh Lapodia.

Giving information about the event, environmentalist Gyanendra Rawat said that eminent environmentalist Sunder Lal Bahuguna Memorial National Award, Anupam Mishra Memorial National Award and Eminent saint-seeker, social worker Baba Amte Smriti will be honored with National Award, Environment Pride and Tree Friend Award.

According to conference coordinator Green India Foundation Trust Dr. Jagdish Chowdhary and general secretary of Nav Prabhat Jan Seva Sansthan Mr. Rajkumar Dubey, coordinator of Apna Talab Yojana in Bundelkhand Pushpendra Singh, Pankaj Malviya of Pani Re Pani Abhiyan Bihar and others were honored in the conference. On the other hand, DU’s Lakshmibai College organized human chain, environmental exhibition and symposium on the occasion of Earth Day, World Innovation and Creativity Day. A human chain was organized in a radius of about two kilometers from Ashok Vihar Shankar Square to Bharat Nagar.

Harsh Chauhan, Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, said in the seminar that the experiences of our community life connect us with the sense of dedication towards nature. The students of Bhatkhande Sangeet Sansthan University, Lucknow presented a song and aarti dedicated to Maa Yamuna. A call was given to attend the human chain organized for the protection of Mother Yamuna on June 4.
