According to NASA, if we try to understand the current speed of the Earth in the solar system, we will find that our planet is not revolving around the Sun at this time. The Sun is the largest body in the solar system and its weight is 1,048 times more than Jupiter. Whereas the pull of the gravitational force of the Earth on any celestial object is considered to be the same or less.
“Kepler’s third law describes the relationship between the mass and orbit of two objects orbiting each other,” NASA explains. “Imagine a smaller star orbiting a larger star. The two stars actually orbit a common center of mass, called the barycenter. This is true no matter the size or mass of each object.”

Therefore, the Earth orbits around a barycenter and not the Sun. Normally, the barycenter of bodies in the Solar System is near the Sun. While due to the influence of their own weight and the orbits of giant planets like Jupiter and Saturn, it is rarely inside the Sun. This is why currently, the barycenter is outside the Sun and not inside it and hence, the Earth is not currently orbiting it. Therefore, the Earth is revolving around a point in space and not the Sun.
Planetary astronomer and science communicator James O’Donoghue says that in general terms, the planets revolve around the Sun. But technically, due to the effect of the massive Jupiter, the planets should revolve around a new point in space. Scientists are just trying to explain this in a precise and realistic way.
