Even today, scientists keep emphasizing on such preparations and conservation to avoid such situations. Even preparations for the conservation of many species have started. But this time scientists have gone a step ahead. They propose that instead of building a huge boat or ship, we should make arrangements to transport everything to the moon.
Scientists say that in case of a global catastrophe, a ‘lunar ark’ of frozen endangered animals should be built. Like “Noah’s Ark” mentioned in some religious texts. Such an idea is gaining strength because from nuclear war to climate change and deadly pandemics, there is no shortage of potential disasters that can threaten the existence of humanity on Earth.
Recognizing that Earth’s biodiversity is vulnerable to a variety of existential threats, scientists at the American Institute of Biological Sciences proposed in a recent article the idea of establishing a Noah’s Ark-type mission on the Moon.

According to The Times report, the team of experts suggested that frozen samples of animal tissue should be sent into space to prevent them from perishing and could then be sent back to Earth to bring new life.
Published in the journal BioScience, the proposal suggested that a biorepository on the lunar surface would store samples that would be “needed to recreate an ecosystem suitable for humans during spaceflight, on another planet or on Earth.”
The Moon was considered an ideal location, as it lacked an atmosphere and therefore posed no threat of climate change. The Lunar Ark is based on the idea of biorepositories that are already safeguarding the essentials of life.
