What does the Massachusetts General Hospital report say?

This research, published in Neurology under the leadership of Dr. W. Taylor Kimberly, found that side effects of ultra-processed foods have been reported. Earlier research had found junk food responsible for obesity, heart disease and diabetes. However, in the new study it has been linked to memory.

Junk food affects mental health

Research has found that junk food i.e. ultra processed foods badly affects the brain. However, more research is still needed on this. This research did not prove a link between eating ultra-processed foods and the risk of cognitive decline or stroke, but it points to the importance of a healthy diet in brain health as we age.

What was found in the research

In this research, the risk of stroke increased by up to 8 percent due to excessive consumption of ultra-processed foods. The study also found that the less such things are consumed, the risk of damage to thinking ability can be reduced by 12 percent and the risk of stroke can be reduced by 9 percent.
