ED Summons Arvind Kejriwal: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday (March 18). A notice has been sent to Kejriwal under Section 50 of the ‘Prevention of Money Laundering Act’ (PMLA) in the Delhi Jal Board case. However, Kejriwal will not go to the investigating agency’s office today. In the ED notice, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief has been asked to come to the investigating agency’s office and join the interrogation.
Aam Aadmi Party has once again termed the ED notice as illegal. AAP has said that why does BJP want to contest elections by hiding behind ED. On Sunday (March 17), ED summoned Kejriwal for the ninth time in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. A few hours later, ED sent summons to Delhi CM in the money laundering case related to illegal tendering and irregularities in Delhi Jal Board. He was asked to come to the ED office on Monday and record his statement.
What is the whole matter?
The Enforcement Directorate is investigating violations of rules and irregularities in two contracts of Delhi Jal Board. In 1998, Delhi Jal Board will supply drinking water in the national capital. The Jal Board also collects and disposes of sewage from areas falling under New Delhi Municipal Council and Delhi Cantt. ED got the lead of this case from the corruption case registered through the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in July 2022.
