Road Safety Campaign: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that a law will be brought to fix the working hours of truck drivers and efforts are being made to reduce road accidents by 50 percent before the end of the year 2025.

According to a government statement released on Wednesday, the minister said that a law will be brought to fix the working hours for truck drivers. This year, the Ministry observed Road Safety Week (RSWM) from January 11 to 17 under Swachhta Pakhwada to promote ‘Safe Roads for All’.

Special focus on awareness campaign

During the week, the Ministry organized several activities including ‘Nukkad Natak’ (Street Shows), sensitization campaigns, competitions for school and college students, road safety exhibitions in collaboration with corporates, walkathons, talk shows and panel discussions at various places in Delhi. organised.

In addition, road-owning agencies like NHAI, NHIDCL, etc., take up special drives related to compliance of traffic rules and regulations, safety of pedestrians, eye check-up camps for drivers at toll plazas and other initiatives related to road engineering.

There is a need to create awareness on activities related to road safety by the transport and police departments of states and union territories, NGOs, private companies and the general public across the country by running awareness campaigns.
