After a month of holy Ramzan, the Eid moon was finally visible on Wednesday evening. The Imams of Delhi’s Jama Masjid and Fatehpuri Masjid confirmed the sighting of the moon across the country including Delhi. After seeing the moon, people hugged and congratulated each other. After this people got busy in Eid shopping.
Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Mosque, Maulana Mufti Mukarram Ahmed said that the moon was seen in many parts of the country including Delhi. On this occasion, Maulana said that Eid is a festival of love. People of all religions should celebrate it together. While wishing Eid, Shahi Imam asked people to pray for peace and harmony for the country. Imam told that Eid prayers will be offered at 6.30 pm in Jama Masjid of Delhi. Whereas, Namaz will be offered in Fatehpuri Mosque at 7.30. Here, as soon as the moon was sighted, a series of congratulations started across Delhi-NCR. People were seen congratulating each other through phone, WhatsApp, SMS.
At the same time, after the sighting of the moon, people started the remaining preparations for Eid. People were seen buying perfume, caps, vermicelli and other dry fruits. Apart from Old Delhi, crowd increased in other markets including Jamia Nagar, Seelampur, Jafrabad, Nizamuddin. This sequence continued the whole night. The children looked very excited about Eid.
