Voting for Lok Sabha elections has started in Delhi. Voters above 85 years of age and disabled people, who had filled the form and sought the facility of voting from home. They are being made to vote. Voting will be held on May 25 for all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, in which other voters will be able to vote. Chief Electoral Officer P Krishnamurthy had recently said that a total of 5472 voters in Delhi had filled Form 12D to vote through postal ballot.
The Election Commission had ordered that the Returning Officer of the Lok Sabha constituency can take the votes of those voting from home by fixing the date and time. After informing the voters in advance, the teams are reaching the voters’ homes for voting.
On behalf of the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, a post has been posted on X and information has been given about going home to vote in Rajouri Garden and Palam areas. BLO, police and other staff are going to get the voting done.
Pickup and drop facility will also be available
This time the number of voters above 85 years of age in Delhi is 97823. At the same time, the number of disabled voters is 77480. Voters who had filled Form 12D. Considering their condition, it has been decided that their vote will be taken at home or a cab will be arranged to bring them to the polling station. For this, the Chief Electoral Officer had asked all the returning officers to hire vehicles.
